Exterior 1
The green commercial remodel of an old cinderblock building into the Hayward Design Center incorporates sustainable design and innovative thinking in every aspect: building function, water and energy conservation, environmentally sensitive materials, and indoor air quality. |
Exterior 2
The original asphalt parking lot was replaced with permeable pavers to reduce storm water runoff. Rainwater is collected from the roof and stored in a 6,000 gallon cistern. Bioswales capture storm water, filter out pollutants, and recharge groundwater. |
Interior 1
Rapidly renewable cork and bamboo floors, cabinets made of formaldehyde free fiberboard, and zero VOC paints and finishes were some of the green building products used in the showroom. |
Entry Desk
The entry desk is made of Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) sustainably harvested lumber. Energy efficient task lighting and operable skylights illuminate interior work spaces. |
Showroom
Environmentally friendly products include display cabinets made with Lyptus, a fast growing, plantation grown lumber, and bamboo flooring. |
