The goal for Allen Associates’ remodel: to create a healthy and comfortable workspace for our employees, as well as provide a showcase for many of the green building products we provide our clients. |
Custom Room
By using paints that do not off-gas volatile organic compounds (VOCs), adding live plants, and installing operable windows, the indoor air quality was improved in this now healthy office. |
Meeting Room
Cabinets in the meeting room are made of Lyptus, a rapid growing, sustainably harvested wood from South America. The conference table was milled from a local fallen Black Acacia tree. |
Plan Check
Sustainable building features in the plan check include Richlite countertops made of wood pulp and resins, cabinets made of wheat board (an agricultural waste product), bamboo floors, and an energy efficient, dual lighting system. |
PV System
A 5 kW PV system provides 40% of the company’s electrical needs from the sun’s energy. The system, with an estimated life of 30 years, will pay for itself within 10 years – a period of time equal to the life of Allen Associates’ lease for the building. |
