West Coast Asset Management
The goal was to create a platinum LEED project. Each aspect of this project was examined through the lens of sustainability. Every square inch of the roof was used to make this a net zero energy building. A 2.85 kW photovoltaic system provides the majority of the electricity. A solar thermal system supplies hot water for all uses in the building. Rapidly renewable, non-toxic, regional, recycled, durable, and beautiful were the criteria for selecting all materials and interior finishes. Almost every green certification system appears on the list of products selected – from FSC to ISO 14001. The transformation of this old building into a sustainable model for the neighborhood within a highly compressed time frame was remarkable. And the client’s deep commitment to a sustainable vision and outcome was commendable. (Architect: Lenvik & Minor)
