Santa Ynez Contemporary

Residential Remodel

This remodeling project transformed an existing 980 sq. ft. home on a remote parcel in the Santa Ynez Wine Country into a simple, yet elegant vacation home. The architect’s original plans called for a 4,000 sq. ft. expansion of the existing home. Working jointly with the architect and client, we were able to bring the project in line with both the client’s lifestyle and budget, reducing the amount of building materials and grading required while improving long-term operation and maintenance costs for the resident. High beam ceilings and an open floor plan create a feeling of openness and take advantage of the spectacular views from the site. Stainless steel counter tops, European style cabinets and plenty of natural lighting give this compact, efficient kitchen an open, bright feeling.  Brazilian walnut floors throughout the home were left-over product from a larger construction project.
