The Construction Process

The Construction Team and Setting Ground Rules for the Project
During the pre-construction process, you will get to know your project manager. As the beginning of construction work approaches, he or she will set up a meeting with you to review responsibilities, the work schedule, key paper work, and emergency procedures, plus he or she will ask about any special concerns you may have. Together you will set the ground rules for the project. A regular weekly, if not daily, meeting will be scheduled at which notes will be taken. These meetings give the opportunity to discuss upcoming work, pin down detailed design decisions, and answer any questions or concerns. You will meet one or more members of the management backup team.

Optimizing the Work for the Client and The Neighborhood
Your project manager will also hold a meeting with the trade contractors to go over the scope of work; scheduling; parking arrangements; tool, equipment and material storage; any unique aspects of the project; and a multitude of other important issues of procedure and coordination. Neighbors will be contacted, given a brief description of the project, and given a phone number to call if they have any concerns during the job.

Completing the Project Promptly
Three or four weeks before the completion of the project, you and the supervisor will establish a punch list of items still needing to be finalized. Our objective is to complete this work before all work is completed, but this is not always possible. Sometimes there are delays with backorder of items that were not shipped correctly or that arrive faulty.

Warrantee Work
Once work is completed to the client’s satisfaction, we schedule 6 month and 12 month visits for any warrantee work that may be needed. On many projects we hold a close-out meeting to get your feedback and suggestions of any ways on which we can improve. Frequently we host a joint party to show off the finished project to friends.
