Can Your Home Survive A Fire in Your Neighborhood?
Now is a good time to explore this question and make changes that will ensure your answer to this question is “YES!”

Recent events remind us that Santa Barbara is a fire prone community. Even if you have not been directly impacted by recent fires, there are a number of actions you can take to make sure your home is better able to withstand a potential fire in the future.
Allen Associates’ Building Care & Repair Division can help you with this process. We can:
Evaluate your home for potential “weak links” that could make your home more susceptible during a future fire & suggest strategies to remove these weak links
Replace roof materials with non-combustible products & protect exposed wood at roof edges
Enclose eaves
Install dual pane windows with tempered glass (now required in wildland fire areas)
Skirt or enclose decks with non-combustible materials
Explore changing out vulnerable deck materials with non combustible decking
Replace existing fire susceptible features (e.g., hand railings, trellises, walls and fences) with fire resistant materials
Install fire resistant attic and foundation vents
Create non-combustible, usable hardscape areas around structures
Weatherstrip for energy efficiency & wildfire smoke protection
To schedule an evaluation, call Randy Corbin, Division Manager of Allen Associates’ Building Care & Repair, at (805) 884-0025.
